Things to do for Christmas in Bryan College Station

There are so many preparations that go into creating a festive holiday season. Between decorating your home, stocking the pantry with your family’s favorite goodies, and making trips to the store, it can sometimes feel overwhelming. Have you ever felt like December just comes and goes in a blink of an eye?

As you tackle your long list of holiday to-dos, we want to ensure you enjoy all the fun there is to be had as well. Whether you prefer something active or taking a stroll under a canopy of lights, there’s plenty of things to do for Christmas in Bryan, College Station, and the surrounding area that your family will love.

Things to Do for Christmas in Bryan and College Station

Let’s take a look at a few of our favorites holiday events in the area and a few new additions to our calendar this year.

Santa’s Wonderland

Our list wouldn’t be complete without Santa’s Wonderland. Located off Highway 6 South, this winter wonderland is considered one of the biggest Christmas attractions in Texas. And with activities like Santa’s hayrides, live music, shopping, food, rides, and more, Santa’s Wonderland sure lives up to its reputation. There really is plenty to see.

The park is open through January 1st from 6pm—11pm on Mondays-Thursdays, 6pm—Midnight on Fridays, 3pm—Midnight on Saturdays, and from 3pm—11pm on Sundays.

Polar Express Pajama Party

There’s nothing better than spending an entire day in your pajamas. And we’d like to think your children feel the same. Tell them to put on their favorite holiday PJs and journey over to the Children’s Museum of the Brazos Valley for the Polar Express Pajama Party. Once inside, children can hop aboard at the Polar Express and enjoy train rides, holiday activities, and a visit from Santa himself. Grab your tickets sooner rather than later, though, as this event tends to sell out. Be sure to check out the museum’s events calendar, too! The museum is hosting a Rockin’ Noon Year’s Eve on December 31st.

The Polar Express will start its engines on Friday, December 16th, and Saturday, December 17th, from 5:30—7:30pm.

Breakfast with Santa

Join Santa on Saturday, December 17th, for a family friendly event that’s geared towards children 12 years old and younger. With Santa by their side, children can engage in holiday-themed arts and crafts while munching on warm cookies and sipping hot chocolate. It’s an event your young ones won’t want to miss!

The event will be held at Neal Recreation Center from 9am—12pm.

Wreaths Across America

Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, we remember fallen U.S. veterans, honor those who have served, and teach children the value of freedom by laying wreaths on the graves of service members. The event in College Station will take place at the Aggie Field of Honor on Saturday, December 17 at 11 am.

Christmas Cellar Tour

Enjoy warm mulled wine as you explore the grounds of the Messina Hoff Winery in Bryan in a guided tour while learning more about Christmas traditions in Germany and Italy. You’ll have the chance to taste four varieties of wine during the Christmas Cellar Tour, as well as savoring a Papa Paulo Port Chocolate Truffle when the tour concludes. The tour begins at 6:30 pm on December 23, 2016. Reservations are recommended, and tickets are $25 per person, plus tax and gratuity.

Aggie Women’s Basketball Team Plays Prairie View

The Texas A&M Women’s Basketball team will face Prairie View on December 28th at 1 pm at Reed Arena. Tickets for all home games from December 5th through January 2nd are $4 for women’s games and $5 for men’s games through a special Holiday Hoops promotion.

Advocare Bowl Watching

This year, the Aggies will face Kansas State in the Advocare Bowl at 8 pm on December 28th. If you aren’t headed to Houston for the game, you can watch it at a local watering hole. The Proudest Monkey is located in the heart of downtown Bryan in a renovated historic building and serves up delicious bar food.

Queen’s Ball on New Year’s Eve

The Downtown Bryan Association is hosting, Bubbles & Beer, its first annual New Year’s Eve party, The Queen’s Ball, which will include music, dancing, a casino tent and beer and wine. Event proceeds benefit The Queen restoration project. The fun kicks off at 9 pm on December 31, 2016.
