What is Holganix? What’s in It? How Does It Work?

Our lawn and pest care philosophy is based on the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach, which seeks to blend a variety of eco-friendly strategies to solve a pest problem. You may think this is unnecessary since chemical pesticides are convenient and often successful.

But pesticides contain toxic chemicals that are harmful to humans, wildlife, and the environment. They contaminate the air, water, and soil, disrupting all the links in the food chain.

There are many reasons why eco-friendly pest control is preferable:

  • Balanced Ecosystem, Healthy Environment
  • Pests Often Build Up Resistance to Pesticides
  • An IPM Approach Is Safer and More Sustainable
  • IPM Saves Money

One great way to avoid the adverse effects of pesticides is by replacing chemical pesticides with organic fertilizers and composts, such as Holganix. There are many different options when it comes to lawn care, but Holganix has proven itself to be the best lawn fertilizer for strong soil and healthy plants.

What is Holganix?

Holganix is a 100% organic fertilizer that uses plant probiotics to improve soil health and promote healthy plants.

Holganix Advantages:

Holganix Bio 800+

Holganix Bio 800+, the flagship line, functions as a plant probiotic and contains over 800 species of beneficial microbes, microbe food, and nutrient enhancers. By supplementing the soil with beneficial organisms, it helps plants grow deeper, taller and more lush.

Holganix Bio 800+ contains over 800 different microorganisms, all designed to improve plant health and prevent dangerous invaders.

The 800+ hardworking bacteria and microorganisms not only promote plant tolerance to weather and disease, they also fortify roots, stimulate plant growth, and balance the soil ecosystem.

What Is Holganix Made Of?

Over 800 species of bacteria and 20 species of fungi go into Holganix. That’s a lot to take in!

To simplify things, we can lump many of them together under more general terms.

Mycorrhizae

Mycorrhizae are types of fungi that attach to and penetrate roots (endo mycorrhizae) or get up really close (ecto mycorrhizae).

In exchange for sugars from the plant, the fungi provide water and nutrients (potassium, phosphorus, etc.) from places the plant cannot reach. The fungi also provide a layer of protection against pathogens and disease. Not just physically, but biochemically as well since the fungi causes the plant to develop antibodies.

Mycorrhizae Benefits:

  • Physical barriers
  • Antibody development and biochemical resistance
  • Access to nutrients and moisture (more drought resistant)
  • Boosted plant health, vigor, seed growth, and plant transplant

Nitrogen Fixing Bacteria

Nitrogen fixing bacteria convert nitrogen found in the air (in the soil) into a nitrate form that is healthy for the plant. This nutrient is important for natural plant processes.

Fulvic and Humic Acid

Fulvic and humic acid are mineral-rich compounds (plant food) that help replenish low nutrient levels.

Other Holganix Bio 800+ ingredients include: compost from shells and vegetables, peat from fungi, kelp, yucca extract, bacteria, nematodes, tee tree oil, calcium, iron, zinc, and much more.

Is Holganix Toxic?

Holganix is organic and completely safe. It’s even food-grade edible and FDA-approved. Don’t worry if any gets on you, your pets, or any wildlife.

Can I mix other fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides?

While Holganix is effective as a stand-alone lawn care product, it can take a long time to build up nutrient levels. For quicker results, you may want to add a small amount of chemicals. Holganix is compatible with some products while incompatible with others.

At ABC, if we can help it, we use 100% organic and non-chemical products. In addition to being good for the environment, our products are completely safe and nontoxic.
