Your Holiday Playlist

Holiday playlist

Nothing screams holiday cheer like warm chocolate chip cookies, decorative lights, and, of course, festive music. And while the radio constantly plays beloved classics like Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” and one of the many popular renditions of “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree”, we wanted to think outside the box this year. That’s why we put together our first-ever holiday playlist and included a few Texas-themed tunes to set it apart from the rest.

Grab a cup of warm cocoa, pull up a seat by the fire, and listen to our playlist below. This is a holiday treat you won’t want to miss!

Here’s what’s in our holiday playlist:

  • “White Christmas” – Bing Crosby
  • “Big Ole Texas Christmas” – Phil Vassar with Ray Benson
  • “Christmas Day” – Beach Boys
  • “Christmas Time in Texas” – Dale Watson
  • “Blue Christmas” – Elvis
  • “When It’s Christmas Time in Texas” – George Strait
  • “Jingle Bells” – Frank Sinatra
  • “Santa Got Lost in Texas” – Jeff Carson
  • “Christmas Time is Here” – Vince Guaraldi Trio
  • “O Come All Ye Faithful” – Johnny Cash
  • “Honky Tonk Christmas” – Alan Jackson
  • “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” – She & Him
  • “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” – The Jackson 5
  • “Christmas in Houston” – Red Cap
  • “The First Noel” – Bob Dylan
  • “My Best Gift Lives in Texas” – Ray Dahrouge
  • “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” – The Pretenders
  • “Feliz Navidad” – Asleep at the Wheel
  • “A Holly Jolly Christmas” – Burl Ives
  • “Pretty Paper” – Willie Nelson

For our final song, we wanted to pay tribute to one of Texas’ beloved musicians, Willie Nelson. Given its lasting relevance, we chose Pretty Paper. Both a single and the album title of Nelson’s 1979 Christmas album, the song’s soothing country rhythm and charming holiday lyrics are the perfect combination for any family gathering.

Getting Ready for the Holidays

At ABC Home & Commercial Services, we believe it’s never too early to start your holiday preparations. To make it easy, we included a few key items you’ll want to cross off your holiday prep checklist.

Take Inventory

For starters, take inventory of what you have and what you’ll need. You’ll also want to figure out where guests will sleep. Assess the space in the guest rooms, check the number of pillows in the living room, and make sure you have enough blankets for everyone. Going the extra mile to make sure your guests are comfortable will help keep holiday spirits high.

Make sure bathrooms have extra supplies, like toothbrushes, and remove any clutter in communal spaces. While looking around your home, take a moment to check that your kitchen and pantry is stocked with all the ingredients you’ll need for the big day. Having to make an unplanned trip to the grocery store Christmas morning is the last thing you’ll want to do.

Be sure to pick up your family’s favorite snacks, too. Having everyone’s favorite treats on hand is the perfect way to spread holiday cheer.

Walk Outside

While the inside of your home is an important element when prepping for the holiday, it’s important to give the exterior of your home a little TLC as well. After all, it is the first aspect guests will notice.

Consider painting your entryway or adding a few decorative pieces, like hanging a beautiful wreath on your door. You can also line your walkway with lights. White or colorful lights can add a festive touch while also creating a safely lit path to your door.

Final touches, like mowing your lawn or trimming your hedges, can be done a few days before guests arrive.
