Bed Bug Control

As one of the world’s top tourist destinations, Orlando is host to millions of visitors each year who bring along unwelcome hitchhikers: bed bugs. Because of their small size and the fact that they are most active at night, bed bugs are very difficult to get rid of on your own. When it comes to bed bug control, Orlando homeowners count on ABC Home & Commercial Services to quickly determine the extent and severity of an infestation and implement an effective treatment plan.

Quick & Reliable Bed Bug Control

Bed bugs spend a majority of their lives in the narrowest cracks and crevices around your bed and other areas we rest, including in the folds of your sheets and in and around your mattress, box spring, pillows, cushions and blankets. Once a population becomes established, these pesky pests can then move onto other parts of your home, hiding in and around your nightstand, baseboards, wall outlets and even within your picture frames.

ABC utilizes two primary methods for bed bug treatment. The first is to apply a spot treatment solution to areas where bed bugs often hide, such as headboards, baseboards, wall joints and under carpet edging. Although this option is more cost-effective, applying spot treatments is less effective, since these pests and their eggs are small enough to fit into virtually any cracks or crevices in your home. Bed bugs can hide in many different places in your home and can fit into cracks the width of a credit card.

Some of the places you can find these pests include:

Heat Remediation

The best way to eliminate bed bugs is through the second method, heat remediation. Heat remediation is a chemical-free alternative which relies on high temperatures to kill bed bugs in all their stages of development in affected areas. Once the treatment is complete, no harmful residue remains in your home. As part of our treatment services, we offer a follow-up bed bug inspection 20 days after your fumigation to ensure that no pests remain on your property. You should only need one heat remediation treatment, and we provide a guarantee that you will not see bed bugs on your property for 90 days. If not, we will return and treat your home until the bed bugs are gone.

Physical signs of a bed bug infestation:

Another sign that you might need bed bug treatment is the appearance of itchy, flat red bites on your arms and other areas which might be exposed while you are sleeping. Bed bugs are attracted to the body temperature and scent of a sleeping person and feed on their blood at night. That said, not everyone reacts to bed bug bites, and these bites can often be confused with bites from other insects.

Frequently Asked Questions

How quickly can you start working on my bed bug problem?

We completely understand that when you suspect you might have bed bugs, you want your problem solved—as soon as possible. That’s why we do our best to get you on the schedule within 24 hours so that a trained inspector can meet you at your property to provide you with a free estimate for recommended services. Once you approve our treatment plan, we can schedule your first service call.

What does ABC do during the free inspection?

Each pest problem is slightly different and requires a unique approach to ensure long-term results. That’s why ABC provides you with a free inspection and a customized, no-obligation treatment plan.

When our trained inspector meets you at your home, he or she will ask you a series of questions to gather more information about your uninvited guests. Then, the inspector will conduct an inspection of your home to confirm that it is bed bugs that have invaded your home and to pinpoint problem areas.

After the inspector has gathered all the necessary information to create a list of recommended next steps, you will have the opportunity to ask any questions you might have about different treatment options and what you can expect as an ABC customer.

After you have a chance to review and approve your free, no-obligation estimate, treatment can begin.

What can I do to keep bed bugs from coming back?

One of the reasons that bed bugs have become a problem again across the country is that once they find their way inside your home, they are very difficult to remove. Another surprising fact is that bed bugs can go up to three months without having a blood meal. So a bed bug can hide within your walls for quite some time undetected before coming out at night and biting you while you are sleeping.

One of the most common ways bed bugs make their way inside is in a piece of luggage or bag that you have brought back from a trip. You can check a hotel room for bed bugs by looking closely at the sheets for dark red blood spots and to check in and around beds and sofas with a flashlight for bed bug activity.

Keeping your luggage in your garage after your trip and putting clothes directly into the washing machine with hot water can prevent bed bugs from coming inside.

Carefully inspect any second-hand items you might have purchased before entering your home. Look at clothing, purses, coats and furniture for droppings or blood spots that might indicate the item is infested.
