My water's turned green. What’s going on?
First things first: you’re not alone! We can’t tell you the number of times we’ve received this question from Dallas/Fort Worth pool owners. It may seem gross, but pool water turning green is actually one of the most common issues around.
There isn’t a simple answer for why this happens, it can have several different causes related to :
After finding the root cause, our pool technicians will resolve the issue sometimes by adding algaecide or sanitizers or performing a shock treatment.
How frequently do pool chemical levels need to be tested?
We advise checking pH and other chemical levels at least twice weekly for residential pools.
Why so often? Because maintaining the proper chemical balance is the main way that you keep your pool safe for the people swimming in it.
After chemicals are added, how long do I have to wait to swim?
In order for you to safely swim in your pool again, the chemicals need to be circulated through the water. This happens when all the water in the pool has passed through the filter at least once, something that can take between 2 to 12 hours in a standard residential pool.
ABC technicians typically make chemical adjustments at night, so the water will be safe to swim in on the following day.
