What happens during the initial inspection?

When you contact ABC about your pest problem, we will schedule an inspection of your property to get a better understanding of the extent of the problem. In some situations, we can provide you with a no-cost estimate over the phone. If we do recommend scheduling an appointment to create a customized treatment plan, you can expect your pest control specialist to:

  • Ask you questions about what you’ve been experiencing to get a better understanding of the pest problem
  • Conduct an inspection of your property to locate pest hiding spots, potential entry points and any pest-related damage
  • If necessary, identify the species of pest
  • Take note of any structural issues or environmental factors that could make your property more susceptible to an infestation
  • Give you an opportunity to ask any questions regarding the pests or our pest control protocols

At the end of our inspection, we will provide you with an estimate for a customized pest control plan. Upon your approval, we will schedule your first treatment call.

What pest control services do you provide for Melbourne homeowners and business owners?

Brevard County is home to a wide variety of bothersome insects and critters. With our extensive experience, we’ve dealt with nearly every pest that calls this area home, and we would be happy to provide any type of pest control you may need.

Regularly, we get inquiries about the following types of pest control:

An American cockroach

Palmetto Bug & Roach Control

While people refer to these pests by different names, we can all agree that finding one of these creatures in your home is an unpleasant surprise. Cockroaches can spread bacteria, worsen allergies, contaminate food, damage belongings and leave behind a foul smell. Roaches have been around for millions of years and have evolved to survive off nearly any organic matter. This means that cutting off the roaches' food source isn’t usually enough to ward them off. Worse yet, these pests are prolific breeders, so controlling an infestation takes a focused, ongoing effort that is typically challenging for busy homeowners.

When you contact ABC for cockroach control, we'll create a treatment plan to locate roach nesting and breeding areas and then will implement measures to both target adult roaches as well as halt the roach reproductive cycle.

A mosquito biting someone

Mosquito Control

With close proximity to Indian River Lagoon and other bodies of water, it’s no surprise that mosquitoes are such a problem in Melbourne. Not only do these pests leave us with itchy, obnoxious bites, but they are also capable of transmitting diseases, such as the West Nile virus or the Zika virus. While public health departments have put measures in place to try to control the population of mosquitoes in the area, it’s nearly impossible to eradicate every mosquito in a residential area. This is because mosquitoes need very little water in order to lay eggs and eggs develop into adults in as little as one week. For further protection from mosquitoes, ABC can provide you with mosquito control measures that both control adult mosquitoes as well as neutralize mosquito breeding grounds.

A bed bug crawling on someone

Bed Bug Control

Bed bugs can hitch a ride home with us in our luggage, purses, backpacks and other items after we have visited a place that is infested. Once inside our homes, these tiny creatures can hide in cracks the width of a credit card in close proximity to us. Bed bugs are commonly found in mattresses, furniture, curtains and can even stay hidden away in electrical sockets. Once bed bugs have found their way into your home, they are extremely difficult to get rid of. These pests are resistant to many different pest control products and can go extended periods of time in between feedings. Infestations can be prolonged when homeowners believe that their problem is gone when in reality these pests are just waiting for their next meal.

An ABC specialist will be able to locate all bed bug hiding spots and then implement a custom treatment plan, so you don’t have to worry about any more bed bug bites or the emotional toll of an extended infestation.

A subterranean termite on a piece of wood

Termite Control

The most common species of termite in Melbourne is the subterranean termite. These types of termites have earned the nickname silent destroyers because they tunnel underground and remain out of sight until they find a plentiful food source. Unfortunately, the foundation of our homes is a suitable source of nutrients for a termite colony. These destructive pests will eat away at the cellulose in the wood constantly to meet the needs of a growing colony. In addition, these pests are capable of such extensive damage because an established colony can have up to a million members.

ABC uses scientifically proven methods of termite control to eliminate the entire colony living on your property. For peace of mind, you can also sign up for our ongoing monitoring program that allows us to catch signs of termite activity before an infestation takes place.

A rat on a roof

Wildlife & Rodent Control

Your everyday life can be turned upside down when rats, mice, squirrels, possums, skunks or raccoons decide to take up residence on your property. Not only do these pests commonly carry smaller pests with them, such as fleas and ticks, but they are also capable of making messes in our attics, knocking over trash bins, contaminating food, damaging belongings and even chewing through wiring and causing electrical problems. Worse still, dealing with these creatures can easily become more challenging due to their larger size. If you have unwanted wildlife living on your property, you can rely on ABC to handle even the toughest problems. Our specialists will be able to locate, trap and remove any uninvited creatures on your property. Then, we will install rodent barriers and seal up any other potential entry points other large pests could use to gain access to your property going forward.

A bat flying during the day

Bat Control

While bats can be helpful to humans, these animals are capable of transmitting over sixty different diseases to us. When bats roost in our eaves, they can also become a nuisance because they can be responsible for unwanted noise and smells. Trying to remove these winged mammals from your property can become complicated because of the regulations that the government has put in place to protect these creatures during their maternity season. ABC can humanely remove bats from your home and yard during sanctioned times of year, and then seal up any holes they may have used to nest on your property.

Two fire ants coming out of a nest

Ant Control

Melbourne is home to carpenter ants, ghost ants, acrobat ants, pharoah ants, fire ants and rover ants, just to name a few. Depending on the species of ant that is on your property, these pests can contaminate your food, leave you with painful bites or even cause structural damage to your home. The unique habits and preferences of different types of ants also mean that effective treatment depends on identifying and targeting each species. Your ABC technician will create a specialized treatment plan to eradicate these tiny pests. Then, we will leave you with tips on how to avoid future problems with these pests.

A tick crawling on someone

Tick & Flea Control

Fleas can leave us and our pets covered in itchy bites, making us miserable. These tiny creatures are prolific breeders which can make it feel as if an infestation happened overnight. While ticks don’t necessarily infest homes, they are capable of transmitting life-altering diseases to us, which is why finding even a single tick on your property can be concerning.

When it comes to pest control for either of these parasites, a specialist who has a deep understanding of the life cycle of these pests is best equipped to get you a quick and effective resolution. This is because ticks and fleas require different methods of treatments at different life stages. When you contact ABC, we will implement a custom solution for your indoor and outdoor spaces that targets both eggs and adults, so you and your pets can feel comfortable again.

A bee nest on the side of a house

Bee & Wasp Control

Finding a bee or wasp nest on your property can be an alarming discovery. While these stinging insects are an integral part of our ecosystem, most of us would prefer not to deal with nests near our entryways, patios, decks or any other place on our properties where we commonly spend time. A nest near your home can be even more frightening if you or a family member are allergic to bee or wasp stings. When you reach out to ABC for bee or wasp control, we send someone to your property to eradicate, remove or relocate the nest or hive, based on your preferences. Then, we will seal up any potential nesting areas to prevent future issues with these creatures.

A black widow spider on a web

Spider & Scorpion Control

While scorpions and spiders are generally not aggressive, they may bite or sting you in an attempt to protect themselves if threatened. Most varieties of scorpion and spider are essentially harmless in the Melbourne area, but there are two species of venomous spider you need to keep an eye out for—the brown recluse and the black widow. Scorpions can also pack a powerful punch if you get stung when you accidentally come across one in the garage, attic or closet. If you are concerned with spiders, scorpions or both of these pests on your property, get in contact with ABC. We can identify the species of spider, if necessary, and then implement pest control measures to reduce the population of these pests on your property.

What is the impact of your products on my family, pets and the environment?

At ABC, our top priority is the well-being of your household. We conduct extensive research on treatment options and only select products that are specially formulated for residential use. As part of your custom treatment plan, your specialist will determine the lowest concentration of chemicals to use to be both low impact and effective. If you have any other questions or concerns regarding our treatments, your specialist would be happy to address them.

How often will you come to my home for treatments?

Each pest problem is unique. In order for your treatment plan to be effective, your ABC technician will take into account your particular situation. So, while some pest problems can be resolved in just a few visits, many infestations in Melbourne residential areas require additional treatment calls. Also, some treatment solutions become less effective over time, so we may recommend ongoing appointments to prevent any recurrences.

Does ABC provide pest control services to businesses in Melbourne?
