A specialist providing heating repair in Austin

Homeowners in Travis County rely on our heating professionals for:

Central Home Heating Repair

When something breaks or malfunctions in your heating system during the coldest time of the year, our homes can quickly become uncomfortable. Some of the most common problems homeowners contact us about include:

  • cold air blowing out of the vents even when the heat is on,
  • strange sounds or smells coming from your unit,
  • a furnace that won't stay on,
  • a heater that keeps going on and off,
  • not enough air coming through the vents,
  • some rooms being colder than others,
  • warm air not reaching some rooms entirely,
  • a pilot light that won’t stay lit,
  • a malfunctioning thermostat and
  • higher than average energy bills.

No matter what issue you are experiencing, you can feel confident that our specialists can quickly diagnose it and then get to work on making any needed repairs. We understand that homeowners have busy lives, and that you'd much prefer spending your time on the Hike and Bike Trail at Lady Bird Lake, catching a University of Texas game or trying out that new restaurant instead of trying to deal with your heater on your own.

We can also offer you honest advice on whether it is time to replace your unit. Typically, once repairs are starting to become more frequent and more expensive, you may want to start considering investing in a new system.

Heating System Replacement & Installation

If it’s time to replace your heating system, ABC can provide you with an inspection and estimate for a new system. Our specialists use a whole-house approach when it comes to determining which heating and cooling system will work best for you. During this inspection, one of our specialists will ask you about your preferences, consider the size of your home and examine the configuration of your duct system. Then, we will present you with a recommendation for a new unit for your home.

Ongoing Maintenance

Through regular tune-ups and maintenance, you can extend the life of your system. Additionally, many heating and cooling problems can be avoided by changing your filters on a regular basis. When you sign up for ABC’s Advantage Maintenace Plan, you will have peace of mind that everything is working just as it should. Also, our specialists will be able to catch any small repairs before they turn into larger headaches.

Can you help me decide whether I should repair or replace my system?

At ABC, we value honesty and transparency. This means you can rely on us for advice on whether it makes more sense to replace or repair your heater. One thing we will consider is the age of your system. On average, heating systems last anywhere between 10 to 15 years. If you purchased your unit about that long ago, you may need to start considering a replacement. However, if you stay on top of regular maintenance, your system may last even longer.

Some homeowners opt to replace their system earlier than that to save on their energy bills. Many of our customers are pleasantly surprised to learn that you can save up to 50% on your monthly bills by upgrading to a more energy-efficient unit.

Can you install a new heating system in my home?

Yes, our experienced pros can install a new heating system in your home. Although our heaters don’t work as hard as our air conditioners do here in Austin, there still comes a time where wear and tear will impact your heater's performance and it makes more sense to replace it than repair it. If this is the situation you find yourself in, you can take advantage of our free inspection to talk to one of our specialists about which system may be best for your home.

Does ABC offer heating maintenance?

The best way to extend the life of your heating system is to sign up for regular maintenance. To help make maintenance easier, ABC offers an Advantage Maintenance Plan (AMP) that will give you peace of mind that everything is working just as it should before temperatures drop.

When you take advantage of our AMP program, you benefit from having a fall tune-up during which our specialists will do the following:

  • Inspect your burners, heat exchanger and vent pipe for any potential problems.
  • Check and, if necessary, replace your heater's air filter.
  • Calibrate your thermostat.
  • Make sure your blower motor and ignition system are working correctly.
  • Test your safety controls, as well as your carbon monoxide and smoke detectors.
  • Replace the batteries in your thermostat and smoke detectors, if necessary.
  • Clean your flame sensor and remove debris from around the furnace.

At the end of our maintenance call, you will be provided with a written report on the health of your system.
