ABC’s pest control philosophy is to put our extensive understanding of pest behavior to use to apply a practical approach to keeping these creatures away from your home in the first place. ABC has been serving homeowners for over sixty years and we have grown into one of the largest independently owned and operated pest control companies in Texas. This is partially because we have adopted an approach that has been accepted by many reputable institutions, including the Environmental Protection Agency.
The Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles place emphasis on pest control that is effective, low impact and low cost. IPM combines lessons learned from entomology, animal behavior, biology and horticulture to create pest control approaches that have a minimal impact on the environment, yet are effective.
Our customers are appreciative of our adoption of the IPM approach because of our dedication to use non-chemical interventions whenever possible. Some of the ways we prevent pest infestations are by determining what exactly is making these pests come to your home and taking steps to make your home less attractive to them. We will also inspect your yard for areas of excess moisture that could make your home more susceptible to pests such as mosquitoes, cockroaches and termites. We may recommend altering your sprinkler schedule or putting mosquito dunks in birdbaths. Other ways you can make your home less attractive to pests include clearing leaves, regularly mowing your lawn, relocating firewood so it is not stacked against your home and cutting back tall-growing bushes. These are all low impact and low-cost ways to make your home less susceptible to an infestation.
The key factor in having a home that is protected from pests is having a treatment plan that is customized to the specific problem you are having. The first step in creating this type of plan of action is to have an inspector come to your home. When an ABC inspector arrives at your home, you can expect the following:
- A conversation to get a better idea about the pests you’ve seen and where you’re seeing them.
- An examination of impacted areas and your property to take note of the extent and severity of your infestation.
- An assessment of any pest-related damage.
- A survey of your home and yard to see if there are any factors that may make your home more attractive to pests.
- An effort to identify pest entry points.
- An opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have regarding pest activity or our treatment plans.
After we have gathered all of the needed information, we will provide you with a non-obligatory, complimentary estimate with a recommended treatment plan. Upon your approval, we will schedule your first service call.
BC has been providing pest control to Texas homeowners for over 60 years. As a family-run business, one of ABC’s values is treating your home as if it was our own. Our customers feel safe with our technicians in their homes, as all of our team members go through an extensive hiring process, are checked for criminal history, and are drug tested before they are hired. Afterward, our pest specialists go through additional in-house training to learn everything they need to know to provide consistent, high-quality service to our customers.
How long will I need to wait for my service call?
We understand that addressing your pest problem as quickly as possible is important. When we can, we try to give our customers an estimate over the phone so we can schedule your first service call as soon as possible.
However, to give you the most accurate estimate with a customized approach to treatment, we may recommend scheduling a time for an inspector to come to your home and examine the pest problem first-hand. Based on your availability, we can usually schedule this in-person meeting within just a couple of business days. Your technician will be able to examine your home for these pests and build a treatment plan that is customized to your specific situation. Upon your approval of our complimentary estimate, we will schedule your first service call.
What’s the usual duration for your pest control treatments?
As each pest problem is unique, so is every treatment plan. We wish that we could solve every pest problem in just one or two visits, but often additional visits are often required to ensure that your pest problems are gone for good. In addition, some pests are seasonal, so we tend to recommend ongoing monitoring to ensure your home is not susceptible to the next generation of these pests.
The length of your treatment plan is dependent on multiple different factors, including the time of year you contacted us, what kind of pest has invaded your property and the extent and severity of your infestation. To prevent pest infestations for homeowners in the Pflugerville area, ABC now offers year-round service to control the “big four” pests in the area: roaches, mosquitoes, spiders and scorpions.
Will I need to be home during an ABC treatment?
We realize that having a pest infestation on its own is a disruption in your life, and being at home for every visit from your pest control professional can be a challenge. This is why we offer outdoor only service calls as a preventative treatment plan. Customers who take advantage of this treatment option will receive periodic treatments around their home’s perimeter to keep pests from entering their homes. As long as you give us instructions to gain access to your home, such as gate codes, we can provide service on your property even when you aren’t there.
How does ABC handle honey bees?
ABC knows the value that honey bees provide to our ecosystem, which is why we do not kill or remove honey bees. If you believe you have honey bees in your home or yard, we can provide you with the names and numbers of local beekeepers who can humanely remove and relocate your hive.
